On Wednesday, 24 April, starting from 10:15 hrs in front of the building of the Municipality of Aerodrom, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands together with its partners will organise an orange bicycle parade on the streets of Aerodrom. The end of the parade will be in the yard of the Gjorgjija Puleski primary school, where at 10:45 a reconstructed bicycle training ground will be opened.
This unique training ground, the only one of this kind in Macedonia, was reconstructed as a joint effort by the Embassy, the Municipality of Aerodrom, PE Ulici i patista and Bojta-Ing. Apart from the new traffic signs, the training ground will be further embelished with a bicycle topiary (sculpture made of wire and plants) created by the Secondary Art School Lazar Licenoski and the Faculty of Forestry in Skopje.
Following the motto “You Can If You Want”, under which the Embassy supports and promotes active citizenship, the reconstruction of the training ground will continue during the opening event, since all participants will be able to join the planting of flowers or the workshop for recycling old car tyires and turning them into unique planting pots together with the volunteers from Ajde Makedonija and Pakomak. Vitalia will provide some of its healthy products to all participants.
On both locations (Municpality building and primary school) orange T-shirts will be sold for the symbolic price of 50 MKD for children’s size and 100 MKD for sizes S and up, and all collected funds will go to Solem – an association for support of people with special needs.
These activities are organised by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and its partners in order to mark the orange month of April, during which the national day of the Netherlands is celebrated. This year it is even more special since on 30th April the new King – Prince Willem-Alexander will take over the throne from his mother, Queen Beatrix.
